Jupiter is a town located on the northern edge of Palm Beach County and has a population of approximately 50,000. It is less than 20 miles from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), and has a smaller airport if it’s own, William P. Gwinn Airport, it’s 10 miles to I-95 and only 85 miles south to Miami.

Things to do in Jupiter

With water everywhere, there are so many things to do in Jupiter, here are a couple more that are special to the area.

Jupiter Inlet – Dubois Park – Jupiter Inlet Park and Dubois Park are connected by a small foot bridge so you can visit both easily.

Jupiter Lighthouse – The most notable landmark in the city of Jupiter is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

Baseball – If you’re a baseball fan, Jupiter is the home to the World Champion Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals spring training facilities, as well as the Minor League Baseball affiliates, the Jupiter Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals.

Other Facts

Due to several mapmakers misunderstandings of the Indian name ‘Hobe’ the town was misnamed Jove on an early map and from Jove to ‘Jupiter’ on another, later map. Jupiter is the Roman god of light, sky and weather and Jupiter, Florida is the only town in America to have such a name. It inspired a neighboring village to name itself “Juno Beach”. Florida Atlantic University’s MacArthur Campus is located in Jupiter it is also the location of the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College. Hollywood star Burt Reynolds even once called Jupiter his Florida home.
