Bali

What do you think of when you picture Bali? Mesmerising sunsets, unique culture, awesome nightlife and delicious food? You’re not wrong.

But all of these things can have a serious effect on your well-being. EXTREMELY serious. When in Bali you’re likely to experience feelings of sadness for plain white rice, embarrassment for other sunsets, high levels of relaxation and a strong desire to become a mermaid.

Don’t put yourself through that.

Here are 7 reasons NOT to go to Bali…

1. Sunsets will never be the same again

Yuck! That sunset it just too much. The Gili Islands are a stone’s throw from Bali, with white sandy palm-lined beaches surrounded by crystal clear waters, ideal for snorkelling have some of the most OVER THE TOP sunsets. Seriously, how selfish of those Bali sunsets making all others look embarrassing and inferior.

2. Rice won’t impress you like it once did

Ubud is the heart of Bali, where you’ll find Balinese traditions and culture strongly upheld. Step into a world of yoga retreats, cookery classes, temples, mountain ranges and rice terraces. But as soon as you’ve seen those rice terraces, you won’t be able to be impressed by rice as you once were, you’ll just stare down at your bowl and feel sad.

3. You’re at serious risk of becoming a mermaid

Welcome to Pemuteran the kingdom beneath the surface, you’ll find underwater temples, hidden treasures, spectacular coral reefs and calm waters ideal for scuba diving. But here’s the thing, it’s so beautiful down there you’ll most likely want to stay forever and become a mermaid living out your years under the sea.

4. It’s likely that your breath will be taken away

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, is a majestic water temple depicted on the 50,000Rp note. It’s an iconic symbol of Bali and an important Hindu-Buddhist temple founded in the 17th Century. Heads up, it’s worth taking a pedalo out onto the water to escape the crowds. Oh and be prepared to have your breath taken away, frequent gasping likely, just warning you.

5. You’ll experience extreme amounts of relaxation

Urgh! It’s just so relaxing and there’s NOTHING worse than feeling relaxed in Indonesia. Komune Beach Club serves up cocktails, fresh seafood and some incredible live music to help you unwind. It even has the world famous Keramas surf break as its backdrop. But who likes relaxation and ocean views anyway? So 2016.

6. The nightlife is a bit too fun

Potato Head Beach Club is where you need to head if you like fun. Is ‘having fun’ still a thing? With Rudimental headlining their 2 day epic NYE music festival last year, these guys sure know how to party. Its amphitheatre design, ocean backdrop and huge infinity pool makes it the ultimate live music venue! Previous years have seen Potato Head play host to Mark Ronson, Foster the People, Fat Boy Slim and the Ultra Beach Bali EDM festival. But honestly, it all just sounds a bit too fun.

7. There’s frankly too much deliciousness

For great coffee, super fresh smoothies and incredible food with brilliant service check out 3Three Cafe Bali. This healthy cafe in the heart of Seminyak has a relaxed atmosphere with old school tunes playing to get you on the Bloody Marys at brunch. The eggs on fire and the Acai smoothie are delicious, if you like delicious things that is. Sometimes delicious food can get a bit old and you just want something gross.

The fact you may become a mermaid forever should be enough of a reason not to go. But if you change your mind, I’ll leave this here just in case.
