Dubai is undoubtedly one of the most amazing places to visit, live or work. Most of you reading this will be aware of Dubai’s reputation as a luxury destination with lots of expensive skyscraper hotels and designer retailers attraction the well-to-do.
You’ll surely have heard of the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa – the biggest building in Dubai- but what about the secret, hidden and non-touristy attractions? Those gems that are less-well known but just as exciting. How many of them have you heard of?
If you’ve never heard of the following Dubai attractions, it’s time to change that and make your next trip to Dubai one of the best yet…
1. SEVA Experience
I don’t know why SEVA Experience (previously Life ‘N One) isn’t up there with the best-known Dubai attractions because it is, without a doubt, one of the best places to eat in the whole city, and there are a lot of excellent restaurants in Dubai.
Why is it so good? Quite simply because this café, although vegan, serves up some of the tastiest food around, and more importantly it does so in wonderful natural surroundings.
When you eat here, you don’t have to sit at a table; you can recline in a hanging chair or eat on a traditional rug, making for a very relaxed Middle-eastern experience.
2. Al Serkal Avenue
Al Serkal Avenue might look a little rough at first glance, but it’s actually a glittering gem of a place to spend some time, especially if culture is your thing.
The industrial warehouse there, which is located in Al Quoz is home to some of the hippest local art galleries, cafes and even a cinema screening room that you will find in Dubai.
Not only that, but you can even take hula hooping classes in the avenue at night. It might be a far cry from the luxury you see in most of Dubai, but that is by no means a bad thing.
3. The Coffee Museum
Are you passionate about coffee? You won’t want to miss out on a trip to The Coffee Museum in Dubai’s Al Fahidi District –an historic part of the city which is worth a visit in its own right.
The museum, which is also a fantastic café and shop, will teach you everything you ever wanted to know, and more about coffee. There are also lots of great antiques and barista contraptions available to buy if you’re in a shopping mood.
4. Burj Park
You might think that, because Burj Park is located in Downtown Dubai, it would be a pretty well-known attraction, but for some reason that simply isn’t the case.
This is such a shame because the park, which is actually a 3-hectare island in the middle of the Burj Lake is a beautiful, peaceful place with awe-inspiring views of Burj Khalifa and the surrounding area.
It’s the perfect place for an al-fresco lunch that you won’t soon forget.
