Brighton summer

We are now into the summer months in the UK and with it brings a perfect opportunity for people across the country to get out and make the most of the holidays and nice weather.

With that being said, let’s hope it warms up sometime soon!

I have decided to give you my top tips to enjoy the British summer this year and below is a list of some great things to do with your friends, family and loved one.

Holiday Parks

If you’re looking for a family break, get to Butlins this summer. There are tons of activities that take place throughout the week which will entertain both the kids and the parents! Britain is famous for its holiday resorts and Butlins have 3 resorts located in and around the UK.

Activities include splash waterworld, traditional fairground and sports coaching. In order to enjoy family July holidays away, be sure to go somewhere that the whole family will enjoy.

Beaches

Southbourne beach, Bournemouth

You can find some beautiful beaches in the UK, no seriously! Okay, don’t expect Ibiza and you won’t be disappointed. Some of the top rated places to go in my opinion include Bournemouth (as seen in the image above), Brighton and Cornwall.

National Parks

Camping tent

The UK is blessed with nature spots, and there are so many places you can visit throughout the country which are perfect to visit when the weather is warm. Popular places I recommend include Snowdonia, Cairngorms, Peak District, Norfolk Broads, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Pembrokeshire Coast. You could go camping, glamping or find a idyllic hotel in the countryside!

London

London Skygarden

Visit the capital of the UK during summer, are you mad? Okay, being in a huge city when it is hot is not ideal, but London is a great place to explore. From seeing people eating outdoors in Soho, to visiting one of the many parks, going to a lido, enjoying some of the amazing rooftop bars in London, and hundreds of other great things to do. View my London travel guide for more recommendations.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon tennis

As you will probably already know, the Wimbledon Tennis Championships gets under way in June and it brings a perfect opportunity for you and your family to cheer on the likes of, Andy Murray. Wimbledon is an iconic annual tournament held here in the UK and Brits are proud to host such a fantastic and historic event. If the budget is tight, you can always spectate from Henman’s Hill where you can watch the action live on the big screen with the rest of the tennis fanatics. Wimbledon really is a ‘must-do’ this summer so make sure you get yourself there.

A Day at the Races

Are you feeling lucky? If so, get yourself down to the races. The price for entry to standard enclosures range from around £20-£40 and it is well worth the day out. The atmosphere is electric and is most memorable and can be enjoyed with both friends and family. The Royal Ascot event is one of the most popular to see, this usually takes place in June and is a great start to this summer’s horse racing calendar.

Festivals Galore

Festivals should be on everyone’s to-do list. As a nation, we are famous for our music festivals and the summer is packed with festivals that take place from Scotland to Reading! My own favourites include, Leeds Festival, Glastonbury, T in the Park and Bestival – be sure to check those out. Day tickets can be purchased for a great price which doesn’t require you to stay over the weekend. If you plan on going to Bestival this year, the fancy dress theme is nautical. It should make for a great weekend either way. View my summer festival survival guide.

There is so much to do in the UK and you really are spoilt for choice. This summer has plenty in stock so make sure you get out and enjoy this great country.
