1. New York
Well, this one’s a given, really! The city that never sleeps is one of the best places to take advantage of the often-favourable costs of your favourite brands in the States. Wandering the halls at the likes of Saks Fifth Avenue and Century 21 is an experience in itself, as you take in their festive displays and luxe gift ideas. 2. Toronto
The idea of going out into the cold to do your shopping totally unappealing? Check out PATH – Toronto’s ‘underground city’, a walkway with 30km of shops and entertainment. Find stocking fillers at The Body Shop, hover for chocolate samples at Godiva and discover the wealth of small and large stores along the way. 3. San Francisco
For those who prefer their pressies to be more on the unique and quirky side, the boutiques of San Francisco’s offbeat shopping districts are sure to uncover the ideal gift for even the trickiest of recipients. 4. Orlando
As well as being home to some of the world’s best theme parks, designer lovers will be in their element with Orlando’s stylish outlet malls. You’ll find the world’s biggest brand names, from Old Navy and Guess to Timberland and Converse, at great prices. 5. Nashville
Perhaps not a city that immediately springs to mind for shopping – but if you’re buying for a music-mad friend or relative, an authentic gift from Music City USA will make their Christmas! Shop for vinyl at Third Man Records, owned by Jack White of White Stripes Fame, or pick up some stylish cowboy boots at one of Downtown’s numerous boot stores.
6. Los Angeles
Okay, this one might be more about the window shopping – but a stroll down Rodeo Drive might give you an idea what the rich and the famous have waiting under the tree! If you’re not quite that bankable yet, get the style for a fraction of the price down Melrose Avenue, home to all kinds of colourful and eclectic boutiques.
