Magic Castle Hotel

Are you looking for a great place to stay in Los Angeles?

The World Famous Hollywood Magic Castle is a must-stay hotel for a trip to Hollywood… if you can find a way to get in to this exclusive night spot.

Fortunately, I found a way – The Magic Castle Hotel!

And that’s just one of the reasons why this hotel was so great. But there are many others.

Entry into The Magic Castle

Clearly, the top reason why I love the Magic Castle Hotel is because you can gain entry into it’s namesake club. If you’re not a member, or know a member, there’s no other way to gain entry, period! You’ll still need to pay a cover and dine in the restaurant, but you’re in! You can learn more about The Magic Castle Club by reading about my prior visit.

Huge Rooms

It occurred to me while I was on this trip, that I had clothes for nearly every occasion: hiking gear, nightclub clothes, everyday clothes and evening clothes.

Add to that several cameras, computers, ipads and shoes and my suitcase was bursting at the seams. I was thankful that the rooms at the hotel are generously spacious so I could “sprawl out”.

The hotel is a converted apartment complex, adding to it’s character and charm. But more importantly, the rooms have plenty of space to make yourself comfortable and at home. The majority of rooms were like ours, 1 bedroom/1 bath with a living room, dining room and kitchen.

Small Touches

Around every corner you’ll be surprised in one way or another. And that’s the strategy according to the hotel’s General Manager Darren. The Magic Castle Hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not. Instead, it focuses on delighting it’s guests over and over again.

From a welcome drink on arrival… to tongue-in-cheeck parking signs. There’s the information card during turn down service. And the daily news bulletin at breakfast.

There are refreshments in the lobby… and a newspaper at your door in the morning. But my favorite, was the door hangars.

Vegemite

Okay, so Vegemite is gross. Eating yeast extract is truly an Australian thing. I don’t understand it.

Nonetheless, it struck me that this hotel, which does indeed have an international appeal, provides this disgusting condiment. It’s yet another small touch for their Australian guests.

I’ve never seen it anywhere else in the states, so if you’re there, try it! But don’t say I didn’t warn you…

A Top Trip Advisor Hotel

According to Trip Advisor, The Magic Castle Hotel currently ranks as one of the best hotels in all of Los Angeles. It often bounces back and forth to #1. with an 8.8 average rating.

With such a wide array of hotels to choose from, being able to consistently maintain this status is a magic trick in and of itself.

While Trip Advisor reviews are generally a crap shoot for hotels in the middle of the bell curve, the accolades it’s won are well deserving.

Free Breakfast

Hotels in L.A. are pricey, so it’s nice to have breakfast included. You’ll find the usual staples of cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, coffee, juice and more. And if you get hungry throughout the day, complimentary snacks (candies, chips, soda, etc.) are available upon request from the front desk. Let me say that again, they give you free snacks!

Final Thoughts

I really, really enjoyed my stay at the Magic Castle Hotel. One night just wasn’t enough. The staff were friendly, accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. Free wifi, USB chargers in the wall and proximity to other LA Area attractions make this hotel one of the best in Southern California. But don’t take my word for it, check out the Magic Castle Hotel on Booking.com.
