You haven’t been to Van? Man… you gotta get to Van! How many times have you heard that Vancouver is the greatest, coolest, most liveable and dopest city in Canada?
Well, turns out Vancouver lives up to the hype thanks to an avalanche of microbreweries, donut shops, and pancake houses, all set to a backdrop that looks permanently photoshopped.
If you are short on time, here is how to spend the perfect day in Vancouver.
9.00am
Start the day right by heading downtown to the Templeton Café. Order the ‘Big Ass Breakfast’ which is a solid, breakfast smack-down consisting of eggs, thick-cut bacon and maple syrup-drenched pancakes.
12.00pm
Work off your breakfast beast-out by hiring a bike for a cruise around local favourite, Stanley Park. There’s more than 1,000 acres to explore and the dudes at Stanley Park Cycle will hook you up with some wheels.
3.00pm
Head to the Kitsilano area where coffee, art, and hip cats await. Stop in to Aphrodite’s Organic Café where the ‘pie and chai’ combo may just change your life.
5.00pm
It’s officially beer-o-clock, so head to Granville Island Brewing – the unofficial mothership of the Vancouver micro-brewing scene. Freaky flavours include: maple cream ale, pumpkin ale, and chocolate imperial stout. Go on then.
7.00pm
Get involved in Canada’s obsession with ice hockey by catching a Canucks game at Rogers Arena. Expect big hits, punch ups, and an ice skating orca mascot that will shoot merch at the crowd at half time.
11.00pm
Head to Fritz for a post-game, poutine-eating session. Enjoy dirty condiments like ‘curry ketchup’ and ‘jalapeno mustard’. Open until 4am, Fritz has got your back.
